The Big Wild Rumpus

Rise up, lovers of Where the Wild Things Are. The Big Wild Rumpus was a nationwide campaign to celebrate the nation’s love of the Maurice Sendak book, Where the Wild Things Are on 13th June 2015.

Wild things gathered in villages, towns and cities, in woodlands, libraries, theatres and back gardens on the 13th of June at 11am to read the book aloud and have a Big Wild Rumpus in the middle.

Over 90 venues and organisations, inside and outside, large and small, organised their own Wild Rumpus.

Three flagship events took place at the Whitworth in Manchester, where actress Maxine Peake read the book aloud, at MAC in Birmingham, and at Unicorn Theatre in London.

The Big Wild Rumpus was delivered in partnership with Penguin Random House Children’s.
